03Information we process
Website visits
Our websites are static pages. We do not set cookies and do not use analytics or advertising tools. Like any website, our hosting and content delivery providers receive technical request data, such as your IP address, browser user agent, requested URL, referrer, and time of the request, to deliver pages and protect the service against abuse. This data is kept in short-lived server and security logs.
When you contact us
If you email us, we process your email address, name, and the contents of your message to reply and to keep a record of our correspondence.
BeaverDeck update checks
BeaverDeck is self-hosted software. Everything it reads from your Kubernetes cluster stays in your
infrastructure. By default, a BeaverDeck installation contacts https://arequs.com/update-check
about once every 24 hours to learn whether a newer version is available. The request contains:
- a randomly generated installation identifier, and
- the BeaverDeck version.
We store the identifier, the version, and when the installation was first and last seen. Your network IP address is received as part of the connection. For older BeaverDeck versions that do not send an identifier, we generate one that is derived from the client network address. No cluster names, resources, workloads, logs, credentials, or user accounts are sent.
UPDATE_CHECK_URL environment variable of the BeaverDeck
deployment to an empty value to disable update checks entirely.
Third-party platforms
BeaverDeck source code and releases are distributed through GitHub, GitHub Container Registry, and Artifact Hub. When you use those services, their own privacy policies apply.
04How we use information
- to deliver, secure, and troubleshoot our websites and services;
- to answer your messages and provide support;
- to tell BeaverDeck installations about new releases and to understand, in aggregate, how many installations and versions are in use;
- to comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, we rely on our legitimate interests in operating secure websites and maintaining our software, on the performance of a contract or steps prior to one when you contact us about our products, and on legal obligations where they apply.
05Sharing
We share personal information only with service providers that help us run our business, such as hosting, content delivery, and email providers, and only as needed for them to provide their services to us. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect our rights or users, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.
We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
06International transfers
Arequs is based in the United States, and our providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
07Retention
Server and security logs are kept for a short period, as configured by our providers. Email correspondence is kept as long as needed to handle your request and for our records. Update-check records are kept while they are useful for release information and aggregate statistics. You can ask us to delete the record for a specific installation by sending us its installation identifier.
08Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. Residents of California and other U.S. states have similar rights under state law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising them.
To make a request, email hello@arequs.com. We may need to verify your request before acting on it.
09Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information, including encrypted connections and limited access. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.
10Children
Our websites and products are intended for professionals and are not directed to children under 16. We do not knowingly collect their personal information.
11Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our products and practices change. We will post the updated version on this page and change the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be highlighted on our websites.
